Went to the Hospital Today...

Well,
I got up early , went to the Hospital, They did an EKG, Blood pressure, did more blood work up, shaved my legs (I am getting knee surgery), Put Iodine all over my legs, put an I.V. in my arm and start dripping something. Stripped me down and put me in one of those stupid gowns...Make my wife write on my knees the words "yes" in big letters...take all my stuff...then ask me if I have coughed up any mucus lately...well...yea...I have a little chest cold. You're outta here! Don't want to risk pneumonia from the anesthesia... oh well in a week or so I can come back and do it all a gain....

Torn Miniscus on both and some other damage on my left knee. Supposedly it is a little worse than going to the dentist. Two hs rs. Surgery...3-4 hrs. in recovery go home...limp for a week with a walker and then back to work!

I could see "law suite all over their faces"...ya know...having my wife mark the knees with magic marker for the surgery. I'm sure that's why when I said I have a cold everyone ran to hold the door open.

About those smooth legs...oh baby oh! Hey I once had a neighbor who was also a customer. Every so often I would see him in a robe walking around the neighborhood...so I asked a mutual friend...found out he was a cross-dresser! Piece of cake, Dave. They do those procedures all the time. Yep, you're right about the "instructional" help on identifying the correct knee. One thing's for sure, they'll make sure they follow all the proper procedures. What kind of anaesthetic did they choose...I'll bet they are giving you a general. That way you'll have no memory of the case in the event you might be asked to testify. It also gives the surgical team an opportunity to turn up the rock music and talk about their golf game, girl friends and Porsches during the case. See if they can give you a tape of the arthroscopic procedure.

Dave, after you surgery you should be back playing professional football in about 4 weeks. I had a torn meniscus cleaned up about 4 years ago, piece of cake, my wife thought I only did it for a couple of weeks of rest! I've always thought those arthroscopes would be great for looking inside a guitar, kind of like a high tech version of a mirror on a stick.

Hey doesn't Frank Ford use one those orthoscopes to take pictures and look-sees? He get's some incredible shots of the interiors...I wish I knew how...

   I had both knees done. the first 3 days are the hardest. keep lots of ice handy it does help. Also lots of batteries for the remote

Hey Dave, I had the same surgery about 2 years ago. It is pretty straight forward but what I found difficult was they wanted me to not squat down for 6 weeks after the surgery. It sounds easy but then about 3 weeks later you're walking along and see a weed in the flower bed, a quarter on the ground or drop that chisel and without thinking there you are. Arghhhhh! I found I had to consciously keep reminding myself.

Good luck with the surgery it feel soooo good to have your knee healthy again .
